• BDG recommends replacing high-pressure fuel lines whenever injectors are changed. After 120,000 to 150,000 km, the internal steel begins to deteriorate. When this happens, tiny steel particles can enter the injectors, causing potential damage. While the particles are only visible under magnification, they’re still large enough to harm your new injectors. Think of fuel moving through the steel lines like water slowly wearing down rocks. The high pressure of common rail systems accelerates this process.
• It’s important not to bend fuel lines when removing components like the rocker or tappet cover during injector replacement. Bending them creates weaknesses that can lead to cracks or leaks. Over time, bending the lines back and forth during removal and installation can cause premature failure.
